  7. Some weeks ago id Software released a fourth episode to DOOM I, "Thy flesh
  8. consumed". Unfortunately only as a DOS version. If you upgraded your registered
  9. DOOM to The Ultimate DOOM v1.9 there is a way to play the new WAD with
  10. Linux-DOOM v1.8 as well.
  11. All you have to do is to use my Ultimate LinuxDOOM patch.

  13. What you need

  16. To apply this patch you need the version of Linux-DOOM (version 1.8) which is
  17. currently available at id Software's ftp server. I think there exists no other
  18. version anyway.

  20. And, of course, The Ultimate LinuxDOOM patch, currently available at
  21. http://www.physik.uni-leipzig.de/~wfeldt/udoom/udoom-1.1.tar.gz .

  23. What you get
  24. ============

  26. After succesfully applying this patch, X-DOOM and SVGA-DOOM will behave very
  27. similar to The Ultimate DOOM. In fact there are no visible differences left.
  28. Except, that
  29.  
  30.    * unlike its DOS counterpart, The Ultimate LinuxDOOM will not crash while
  31.      trying to view demo4 when used with doom2.wad
  32.  
  33.    * it can play all LMPs that have a version number >1.3
  34.  
  35.    * you get the par-times at the end of each level, as usual

  37. Installation
  38. ============

  40. Put all the files found in "udoom-1.1.tar.gz" and Linux-DOOM (X-DOOM and/or
  41. SVGA-DOOM, named "xdoom" and "sdoom" respectively) in one directory. Look
  42. through the script "patchit" and uncomment the "exit 1" command in line 6. Then
  43. run it. If there were no error messages you have now the patched versions of
  44. LinuxDOOM.
